What sets Sēlkyn Products apart from other brands?

We use 100% organic ingredients and create our formulations through a special slow infusion process. We are one of the only brands in Australia to make our formulations this way, creating something far more therapeutic for the skin than just relying on essential oils as the plant component of the product. 

Herbal infusions are a way of extracting the full spectrum of fat soluble nutrients and minerals out of the herbs and into the tallow, through low heat and over a specific period of time. This results in a highly therapeutic product  that has targeted impact on the skin, reducing inflammation, irritation, dehydration and signs of ageing.   

Is Sēlkyn Tallow organic?

While Sēlkyn Tallow is not formally certified organic, every ingredient used is carefully sourced from certified organic or high-integrity producers. This allows us to maintain full control over quality and sourcing without being limited by certification frameworks. The focus remains on purity, integrity and the use of truly clean, non-toxic ingredients.

How do I know which balm to choose?

Both of the face & body balms are gentle on the skin and highly therapeutic. For most people the choice comes down to a scent preference, choosing between vanilla rose or calendula lavender. For those that have troubled skin, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis, the calendula lavender balm has slightly more therapeutic benefits and may be of benefit for its healing and inflammatory properties. 

Where do Sēlkyn source their tallow?

Our tallow is sourced from certified organic, high-quality, ethically raised animals, selected with care and intention. We work with trusted suppliers who prioritise animal welfare and regenerative farming practices. This ensures the tallow retains its natural nutrient density, making it deeply compatible with the skin.

Is tallow a sustainable skincare option?

Tallow is considered a highly sustainable option as it utilises a part of the animal that would otherwise go to waste. By using tallow in skincare, we are returning to a more traditional, low-waste way of working with natural resources. When sourced responsibly, it supports a more balanced and regenerative approach to both farming and formulation.

Sēlkyn Tallow is handcrafted in small batches in the hinterland of Byron Bay, Australia. Each product is made slowly and intentionally, allowing the integrity of the ingredients to be preserved and honoured. Is tallow skincare natural and non-toxic?

Tallow skincare is naturally free from synthetic additives, preservatives and industrial seed oils. At Sēlkyn, each formulation is created using whole, recognisable ingredients, offering a simple and non-toxic alternative to conventional skincare.

What is beef tallow skincare?

Beef tallow skincare is a traditional form of skin nourishment made from rendered animal fat, rich in vitamins and fatty acids that closely resemble the skin’s natural oils. This allows it to absorb deeply and support the skin barrier in a way many modern formulations do not.

Is beef tallow good for your skin?

Why is tallow good for your skin?

Tallow is good for the skin because it contains fat-soluble vitamins and fatty acids that mirror the structure of our own sebum. This allows it to be recognised and used by the skin rather than sitting on the surface.

Will tallow clog my pores?

Tallow is generally well tolerated and unlikely to clog pores for most skin types. Because it is similar to the skin’s natural oils, it tends to absorb rather than block pores. As with all skincare, individual responses can vary.

Is tallow suitable for sensitive skin?

Tallow is often very supportive for sensitive skin, especially when made without essential oils. Its nourishing and protective qualities can help calm reactivity and restore balance.

Will tallow leave a greasy residue on my skin?

Tallow absorbs beautifully into the skin, due to the fact that it is similar to our own natural oils, allowing for a deep absorption. Although tallow is greasy at first, it absorbs into the skin within about 20 minutes, leaving a lovely dewy feeling without the heavy grease. If your skin is naturally oily, you may only require a very small amount of tallow, whilst people with dry or depleted skin may find more ample amounts beneficial.

Can I use tallow on my face every day?

Yes, tallow can be used daily. Many people find that consistent use helps improve hydration, softness and overall skin resilience over time.

How much tallow should I use?

A small amount is often enough, but drier or more mature skin may benefit from using a more generous amount. The skin will absorb what it needs.

Is tallow good for ageing skin?

Tallow is particularly beneficial for ageing skin as it helps replenish lipids, maintain moisture balance and support the appearance of plumpness and softness.

Is tallow skincare popular in Australia?

Why use natural deodorant?

Conventional deodorants contain on average 10-30 synthetic ingredients and chemicals that are applied to highly absorbant skin covering the lymph glands and breast tissue. These chemicals are known to interfere with a persons endocrine system, effecting the thyroid, menstrual cycle and fertility - just to name a few. Which deodorant is best for me?

Sēlkyn Tallow has two non toxic, 100% natural, aluminium free deodorant options. 

Which deodorant is right for you? 

Our lemon Myrtle deodorant uses a bi-carb and arrowroot base, while our Frangipani, Eucalyptus and Mandarine uses a an arrowroot and diatomaceous earth base. 

Some people can experience sensitivity  to bi-carb. Thats why we created a second option.

If your skin tolerates bi-carb, its highly effective at controlling odour and is often preferred for its strength If your sensitive, the diatomaceous earth formula offers a gentler alternative. Its still naturally alkaline, but less likely to irritate the skin.
