Who We Are — The Heart of Sēlkyn Tallow

 

At the moment it's mainly just me, Anki – mother, grandmother, and founder of Sēlkyn Tallow (formerly Naked Beauty Balm). Sēlkyn Tallow is a small, woman-owned business, born from a lifelong devotion to natural, non-toxic living. I am receiving a lot of support and help from some of the amazing women in my life, especially my daughter who will become a bigger part of this project as the business grows.

For over 20 years, I’ve been crafting lotions and potions for my family – herbal salves, oils, and skin remedies made with love and intention. What began as a non toxic skin care option for my daughter and granddaughter, has grown into a luxury skincare line, rooted in ancestral wisdom and backed by the purity of organic, nourishing ingredients. Every jar of Sēlkyn Tallow is handmade in small batches, free from hormone disruptors, industrial seed oils, and synthetic fillers — because I believe skincare should be something your body instantly recognises, not struggles to process.

A Lifelong Calling

 

My path has always been about honouring the cycles of life. As a former homebirth midwife, menstrual educator, and rites of passage guide, I’ve supported women through every stage — from maiden to mother to crone. I’ve also worked as a nurse in aged care, supporting the dying process, which deepened my respect for the body’s transitions and the importance of nourishing it at every stage.

These experiences taught me that beauty, wellness, and vitality are not about fixing or masking our natural form but about honouring — honouring the body, the skin, the wisdom of ageing, and the natural processes we all move through.

Inspiration Behind Sēlkyn Tallow

 

As a 45-year-old woman who has lived a very sun-loving, outdoor lifestyle, I’ve seen the effects of sun damage on my own skin. That, combined with my lifelong passion for natural health, inspired me to create skincare that restores and nourishes instead of the empty and false promises pledged by so many cosmetic companies to fix and mask our 'flaws'.

I don’t buy into society’s story that beauty belongs only to youth. I believe in graceful, natural ageing — in honouring the stories that our lines tell. For me, every crease and freckle holds a memory of a life well-lived, and I am continually inspired by women who embody their natural beauty as they age.

This philosophy is at the heart of Sēlkyn Tallow. Our skincare is not about quick fixes or changing who we are. It’s about giving the skin what it truly needs: deep, organic nourishment, so that we can continue to glow with vitality at every age.
